this morning i found five dead birds outside my work building. not crushed or mutilated, just dead. i think they were all sparrows. i've noticed more dead birds around town lately in the same condition. what gives? is it the endtimes already?

West Nile
Birdies don't get to go to the hospital and get saved. They just suffer.
West Nile is in Cook County. Our birds are sick. Our mosquitos are infected. But all you'll hear on the news is what Angelina Jolle did this weekend.
5 More Contract West Nile in Cook County
OMG SOMEBODY SAVE THE BIRDS! HOW THEY SUFFER!!!!!!!1111111
fuck that, what about avian flu??
You're still pretty safe from H5N1 if you don't touch the dead, sick birdies. (how they suffer!) Many human cases of bird flu have been from people who ate raw or undercooked infected poultry. (google H5N1 blood pudding) The others have generally been people who handle poultry for a living in shitty conditions.
I've read about at least one case where they couldn't figure out how a person got it, except from a family member who caught it from a bird. That is a little scary.
And yes, there's H5N1 in North America. I'm pretty sure that has been true for a long time. So far they haven't spotted a highly pathogenic strain here. But I'm sure our government is totally prepared...
they should be prepared, they probably invented it. :D
no dead birdies that i saw today. that makes me feel a little better.
there's something about this. and i've been trying to figure out what. i saw two in two days. a horribly crunched with blood dove or pigeon (in the middle of the road, so that was weird), and a small "city bird," as i like to call them, and it just was ... like you said -- dead. i have a picture of that one. i need to do some major flickr updating.
